I'll be honest — I wasn't sure I needed a digital calendar on my wall. But after a fortnight with the Skylight, I'm a convert. It's a 15-inch touchscreen that syncs with your Google or Apple calendar, so everyone's appointments show up in one place with their own colour. No more scribbling on the kitchen whiteboard.

What I really like is how simple it is to set up — ten minutes and you're done. The screen is bright and clear, the text is big enough to read from across the room, and you can tap it to add events right there. The children can even check off their chores on it, which is rather satisfying.

My only gripe is that the best features — photo screensaver, meal planning, and the clever email import trick — need the Plus subscription at $79 a year. The free version covers the basics, but you'll want the extras.

Perfect for busy families or grandparents who want to keep track of everyone's comings and goings. Not for you if you're happy with a paper diary.
